Pender United Hurricanes Football and Cheer

Welcome to Pender United Football and Cheer, Home of the Pender Hurricanes. We are a member of Coastal Pop Warner and are proud to be providing Pop Warner Football and Cheer for the Burgaw, Rocky Point and Western Pender County areas. Pop Warner Football and Cheer has been a part of Pender County for over 20yrs. Pender United will offer football and cheerleading for ages 5 - 15 for the upcoming 2015 season.

The Pender Hurricanes will be holding registration each Friday from 5pm-7pm at the McDonalds in Rocky Point from June 26 through July 31.

Since Pender United was formed in 2010, the Hurricanes have enjoyed much success against local, regional and national competition.  In 2010, Jr. Pee Wee and Midget cheer each placed 1st in the local competition and advanced to regionals where they placed 5th & 3rd respectively, while our Jr. Pee Wee football team advanced to the regional playoffs.  In 2011, Peewee and Midget cheer each won their local competition and advanced to regionals where the Midget squad placed 1st advancing to nationals held annually at The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World.  The Midget cheer team finished 8th in the nation out of 15 teams.  Also, in 2011, Pee Wee football team advanced to the regional playoffs.  In 2012, the hurricanes enjoyed their most successful season.  Again, Jr. Pee Wee & Jr. Midget cheer squads won the local competition and advanced to regionals where the Jr. Midget squad placed 1st and advanced to nationals.  The Jr. Midget team finished 11th nationally out of 15 teams.  The Jr. Pee Wee football team advanced to the regional championship game defeating the Jacksonville Storm and Wake Forest Titans before falling 8 - 6 to the Chesapeake Bay Knights in the title game.

Pop Warner Football is designed to put players in divisions based on age & weight. Every tackle football player will be weighed in at the beginning of the season to determine division assignment. Players must maintain the weight requirements throughout the season for their division. Players will be weighed prior to each game by Coastal Pop Warner officials.

Scholastic are also an important part of Pop Warner Football and Cheer. Each year, Pop Warner gives out scholarships to players that excel in the classroom. To be able to compete in Pop Warner, each player must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Final report cards for the 2013/2014 academic year must be turned in and reviewed before a player will be allowed to participate.

All Pop Warner Football and Cheer coaches have a mandatory background check. In addition, Head Coaches have to be certified through ASEP and attend a clinic on Risk Management. If you are interested in coaching or volunteering please contact us

Pender United will practice in Rocky Point at the Rocky Point Joint Development Center located at 17808 NC Hwy 210, four miles west on NC Hwy. 210 past Heide Trask High School.  We will play our home games at Heide Trask High School and Pender High School. We will compete against other teams that are in Coastal Pop Warner. There are currently 2 Pop Warner organizations in Pender County, 2 in Brunswick County and 5 in New Hanover County.
Looking forward to an exciting season of Pop Warner Football in Pender County. FEAR THE STORM!
